I bought this book due to all the 5 stars it was getting and wanted to try a new author. I am sorry I wasted my time and money. I am one of those people who have to finish a book no matter what and when I get to the end of 788 pages there is a cliff hanger! The writing was not bad but there was so much repetition. The hero is a total wimp and the heroine is stupid. based on the story line itself the book would be hard pressed to to be 200 pages. So much internal dialogue that goes on and on and on and on. whole lot of sex both heterosexual and M/M action that was not needed but used as filler for 788 pages! There is no way I will read another by this author based on this book. I hate leaving negative reviews and only do so when the book is just totally bad that I need to worn others so they know what they will be getting when they pay. I wish the author luck though. I've read many contemporary author's books with vampires (Blake, Fast, Feehan, Grosso, Hardt, Harris, Hartnady, Meyer, Rose, Savino, Ward). So when a new author came on the scene with a great cover & compelling blurbs I was happy to one-click. But the reading wasn't as good as the advertising. Over 700 pages that could have been reduced to 300 had the editor been doing their job. This is not the age of Dickens where the writer gets paid by the word! Scenes do not need to be rehashed from multiple characters point of view. Such formal conversational language, while possibly believable from a 500 year old Italian vampire (although if he can survive in the mortal world you'd think he would get with the times) but not from a 20 something woman in the modern age. No millennial, in the age of text-speak is always going to say "it is" instead of "it's" and would never, ever call her boyfriend "lover". The storyline was passable (billionaire playboy with pain in his past meets shy girl with relationship baggage) but no alpha male "warrior" is going to be as wordy or buy her a pair of Jimmy Choo's. Details are touched on but left unexplained. What could be a great conflict scene is brushed over, as is the cheating. Sadly, I couldn't finish the book, which is extremely out of character for my OCD tendencies. Even skimming through, I just couldn't do it. Hopefully, should this author continue to write, she will get some better people behind her and listen to their hard advice.
